The Corrs 1998/99 Tour

The 1998/99 Corrs UK Tour Section

Here are the reviews that I've received relating
to The Corrs 1998/99 Concert Tour

The Tour Venues | The Tour Song List

Nottingham Royal Concert Hall Concert

(3rd December 1998)

WOW! Is an inadequate way to describe it but it's late and I really do need some sleep! This will be short and probably error-ridden, my apologies to you all!

Anyway, here's the set-list:

Only When I Sleep

No Good For Me

Forgiven, Not Forgotten

Joy Of Life

The Right Time

Hopelessly Addicted

When He's Not Around

What Can I Do

Jim's Piano - solo from Jim, very funny. very beautiful, and yes, 'Les Dawson' would be turning in his grave:))

Sharon's solo

Sharon/Caroline - I don't know the name of the song that they song, with Jim accompanying them, but it was gorgeous and exquisetely sung. Who needs Andrea?:-)

Runaway - with Caroline on piano!

Haste To The Wedding

Queen Of Hollywood

Dreams

Secret Life - (fantastic!!)

I Never Loved You Anyway

Encores:

1999

So Young

Toss The Feathers.

According to Carolines set list - which a nice security person gave me along with one of her drum sticks:-), Little Wing is also listed.

Now after they'd done Toss The Features the houselights came up and everyone started to leave. Makes me wonder if people had still carried on cheering whether they would have done this number?? Might be worth trying out you guys that are going to future concerts...on the other hand, her set-list could be wrong! Highlights for me would have to be Sharon and Carolines song, Runaway, Secret Life and 1999. I was a bit dubious about it when I heard they were doing 1999, but I think 'Mr Squiggle' would approve!

Outfits? Black, then for the encore it was white and those metallic spangly tops they wore on Top Of The Pops.

Oh yes, and could you please shout up for Sharon in future concerts, all the others got "I love you's" except for her. I tried to persuade the bloke next to me to speak up but he wouldn't! So instead of 'Justice for Jim' it's 'Shout up for Sharon' instead:-)

What Can I Do

Jim solo on piano - Irish traditional(?) Plus the entertainer!!

Sharon solo - with Jim joining in on piano later

Sharon and Caroline duet!!!!!!!( Jim playing piano) Incredible!! Look out Andrea they are after your job!! Don't know what the song was but it was beautiful!)

(3rd December 1998)

Overall impression of the gig was absolutely fantastic!

I thought the new(?) song performed with just Jim, Sharon and Caroline was very moving and beautiful.

Jim's "Les Dawson" piano touch was very amusing....as was his pretending to fall asleep at the piano while Sharon was playing.

The tour book is somewhat poor....nice pics but duplicated numerous times just to fill it out. Very little text - what is there to say anyway?, following on from the last tour - just a few stats and appearances that have been generated since March....

Personal highlight was The Right Time.

The audience profile still seems decidedly middle aged...although maybe that's because things hadn't really started to accelerate when tickets for these early gigs went on sale...maybe there'll be a noticeable change in January!?

The token photographers were irritating, obscuring the view for the first 4 songs....

The shouts from some members of the audience were handled with admirable professionalism....at times I was somewhat embarrassed to be in the audience and found the behaviour of some people cringeable - it's one thing having kids screaming "I love you *insert appropriate name here*!" at concerts, but from older men who should know better....it's not even flattering.

The support band, 'Dakota Moon' were pretty decent - not bad at all (although I'm elated at the news that the wonderful Picture House will be back in the slot in January) - and may I add that the young men from Dakota Moon were extremely polite and well mannered this morning at breakfast.

Just to summarise - a superb time was had by all!!

(4th December 1998)

Well what a kick ass night!

It would take too long to put every thing on here, so here are the highlights.

The set was the same as the 3rd November except that they went back to their usual start.

Andrea made the mistake of singing the intro too soon. (Ha!) When it came to Jims solo on the piano, you could hear a pin drop. He was playing brilliantly....until....Ahhhhhhhh B+*_*+*KS. He made a mistake & shouted this out in reaction. He was so anouyed with himself as he'd got there early to practise it & had got it done fine then. There was laughter all around. Jim was so sweet. He was cracking up too.

Then we had the acoustic duet from Sharon & Caroline. (Jim on piano) Well, what can I say. It took my breath away. From the set list my friend= got, it is called No Frontiers (Heaven Knows) - it is a beautiful ballard that I hope we get on a B-side or on the next album. Their vocals are excellent. It was nice to see Caroline out front too. We screamed the place down after this one.

Then we had Caroline on the piano for an acoustic version of Runaway. Beautiful playing. From where I was sat I could see the keys. For those of you thinking that the next album will be more in the dance direction. Kerena & I think the last three numbers will prove that it won't be. To quote Kerena who can not get to her computer until Wednesday. That is utter "rubbish" they have proved that with these gigs!

The other song that surprised me was 1999. I am not a prince fan at all. But I do think his a good writer. This just blew me away. We got lead vocals from Sharon, Andrea & Jim on this one. Excellent. Utter genius.Andrea did some of the low parts on this. Well, thats the highlights from that gig.We had brilliant seats. Front row on Sharons side. Andrea kept coming over & singing to us. Sharon kept giving us little wiggles too. We even got the crowd up. What a night.

The only down side for me was my Mini disc player stuffed up on recording it.

Did anyone else succeed?

Roll on Manchester!!

(4th December 1998)

The following review appeared in The Times Newspaper.

Publisherd 7th December 1998
Bonny Celtic Charm - The Corrs. Nottingham
David Sinclair

NEVER has a group seduced a nation in the demure way that the Corrs have won over Britain. Part of the trick has been good timing. Now that we are into a post-Spice era where pure pop is king, the soft, sweet music of the Corrs, with its bonny Celtic lilt, is not only pleasant on the ear, but fashionable as well. Their second album, Talk On Corners, is on its way to becoming the bestselling record of 1998.

The seduction has also been wrought on a more subtle, emotional level, as anyone watching their show at the 2,500-capacity Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on Friday would doubtless agree. The second night of an itinerary stretching all the way through to February, it was a more intimate affair than most of the forthcoming dates, including five nights at Wembley Arena, will be. The group seemed nervous, and the gig was marred by a series of minor technical gaffes. But if there was a tentative air to some of the individual performances there was the overwhelming sense of an act that has built its success on rock-like foundations of personal and musical integrity.

With their black hair, striking features and willowy, catwalk-model figures, the three Corr sisters, Andrea (vocals, tin whistle), Sharon (violin, vocals) and Caroline (drums, bodhran, piano, vocals), looked beautiful but never brazen, while their elder brother Jim (guitar, keyboards, vocals) maintained an unshowy, businesslike air.

There was no attempt to dazzle the audience with sexy come-ons or bravura displays of musicianship. Instead they put their faith in their songs and the sheer force of their unspoilt collective personality.

With influences divided between Irish folk, pop and American soft rock, they produced an easygoing blend of mainstream music set to a surprisingly muscular backbeat on numbers including Forgiven, Not Forgotten, Only When I Sleep and Queen Of Hollywood, while emphasising their roots on more traditionally derived fare such as Joy Of Life and Toss the Feathers.

Andrea's singing, with its distinctive catch in the throat and vestigial brogue, was a delight, but it was the instrumental passages that conjured much of the drama, not least when Caroline got cracking on her bodhran during Haste To The Wedding.

(3rd and 4th December 1998)

We're still recovering from the two Notts. shows, both were absolutely fantastic, and everything everyone else has already said. I just can't wait now for the next time we'll see them.

Well anyway, something we noticed for both shows, is that though they were mixed audiences, there were lots of oldies! Very surprised really, as were expecting it to be generally much younger people. Though still plenty of those too, but anyway I needn't have bothered with the hair dye!! (plenty of grey heads there).

You could see there were complete families too & I think that is indeed their appeal, which is really nice.

Liverpool Empire Concert

(6th December 1998)

Don't be tempted to skip the support 'Dakota Moon' as they were very good. A bit of a strange choice for an opening act but still worth your attention.

They opened with the traditional opening to When He's Not Around with the Violin solo from Sharon. The rest of the set seems to follow the previous concerts with one major difference. They did not perform Princes 1999 which seems to have been done previously.

My personal highlights was an excellent rendition of Runaway, my favourite song as well as my other favourite of Hopelessly Addicted. Then came, for me as well as most people sitting near me, the best part of the concert and that was the piano solo from Jim. He joked that the song was becoming a bit of a joke as he always messes it up in front of the audience but is perfect in practice. He need not have worried as he played it perfectly and even encouraged the audience to clap along.

He was so relieved to finish the song without a mistake that he treated us to a perfect rendition of Les Dawson piano playing at its best.(For people who do not know Les Dawson he was a comedian in the UK that played the piano and deliberately played occasional wrong notes but carried on as if he didn't notice. A difficult task I am informed by piano players.)

Then on came Sharon and Caroline for an absolutely stunning version of the song No Frontiers with Jim Still on the piano. Both of the girls have fabulous voices, I was particularly impressed with Caroline's as you never seem to hear from her much. A complete shame in my honest opinion. Lets hope they get their own songs in the future.

My regard for the group has risen to new heights!!!

The Caroline took over from Jim on the piano to play on Runaway. There was a small bout of confusion as Andrea was introducing Queen of Hollywood, as the song they got their album title from, and Caroline jumped in thinking she was wrong and Andrea said she must have the wrong playlist. But they went on to play Queen of Hollywood anyway.

A small point. What Can I Do was the remix version with the guitar and not the version with the "DO DO DO's". Shame.

One and a half hours seemed to fly by and they went off to a standing ovation from most of the audience. They returned for an encore of So Young and an instrumental it was either Toss The Feathers

. One total bizarre note in the interval they had people coming down the aisles selling ice creams and drinks. In all the concerts I have been to (around 200) this is a first.

One small sour note a few people (around 25) waited outside for the band at the end but the security people said they would only allow photographs and there would be no autographs. When they finally came out nearly 1 hour later they were hustled into the bus by the security without hardly a word. Hopefully not a sign for the future.

If you are going to a concert then well done you will enjoy it. I have to wait until 21st December to see them again in Manchester. I could have gone either tonight or tomorrow but I thought I would be working then the boss says there is no need and isn't that good!! On the merchandising front

T-shirts £14 - £20

Posters 2

Key rings £2

Programmes £6

One of the goodies on sale was Corrs lighters - That's a new one on me!!!

Also fleeces a snip at £55

(6th December 1998)

I went to the Liverpool concert on Sunday night and for me it was the first time that I'd seen The Corrs live.

Four of us went although and we were upstairs and near the back, but we still had a splendid view of everything.

My only gripe is that it takes the crowd at 'The Empire' (where it was held) ages to get warmed up. Me and my mates were on the button from the start singing along and really joining in, while it took most people quite a while to get in the mood. This is not down to The Corrs but is quite a usual thing in the Empire..for what reason I don't know.

I went to see Chubby Brown not too long ago in the same place and the crowd there took ages to warm up.

Some people just don't know how to enjoy themselves at a concert!

Still..I got a programme for £6...probably the standard programme for all concerts, plus 2 large posters for £2 each, poster is on the wall in the house and programme is safely tooked away. I just would have liked a small lottery win on the Wednesday and would have put an advert in the local paper saying that I'd pay something like a £1000 each for a ticket on the front row :-)

It really was a top performance, Jim was great on the Piano and it was really funny when Andrea announced the next song...only to be given puzzled looks by the rest of the group as it wasn't what they were supposed to play next, while Caroline was doing her best to tell her what the next song was!

Andrea looked really embarassed and apologised to everyone but there was no complaints from anyone..it gave a few people in the crowd a chance to shout out a few funny things when everything went quiet.

My favourite tune of the night had to be Runaway, a favourite of mine anyway. I knew Caroline could play the Piano but didn't know how well until the song began..I was very impressed.

It's just a pity that I'll have to wait ages and ages before I get the chance to see The Corrs play live again!!

Manchester Labatts Apollo Concert

(7th December 1998)

Just got back from the Manchester gig. Here's a brief outline for ya:

Dakota Moon on first. A talented bunch of lads with a lot of enthusiasm for what they do. They must have been wearing really tight trousers too 'cos they hit some REALLY high notes. Even Michael Jackson would have struggled. They could do with checking their guitars more often though - several tracks done with rather dubious tuning.

Overall they're a pretty good outfit but I do question their fit as the support for the Corrs; I mean they are an acoustic soul band. No Celtic sound at all. Perhaps I just miss Picture House..........

Corrs started with the synth rhythm as with the previous gigs & into When He's Not Around. It's kinda funny that its been mentioned recently but Andrea's voice did sound slightly different. It seems stronger now with an increased degree of huskiness to it.

Set-list pretty much the same as the Liverpool gig. The main-points & highlights I can sum up as follows:

1. I never tried to hide it before, but I did not like Conor Brady's guitar style. He didn't suit the band at all & sounded like a poor Jimi Hendrix impersonator. What a difference it makes having Ant. - a more solid player, capable of adlibing fill-ins throughout the tracks giving a fuller overall sound. It may not be the favourite track of a lot of people (although I like it), but his solo on Queen Of Hollywood was phenomenal.

Keith's bass as always hit the nail right on target. A good player....

2. For the Caro's changing role doda, let the panicking stop here. Her duet with Sharon on No Frontiers was simply breathtaking. They got some major applause for this I can tell ya. Her drumming has improved no end also. It was fine before, but she seems a lot more confident now; more at ease.

I'd say it's simply a case of showcasing the talents of the band more.

3. Jim's solo on the piano was again flawless and damn good too. The jokey part after was a scream.

4. When doing What Can I Do, Andrea fluffed the words, missed about four lines through laughing and simply said "Oops" before carrying on. Absolute classic. When she was singing the line "What can I do to make you love me......" after this; you could see the answer on everyones faces - too late, we already do.

5. The ultimate biggie of the entire evening however has to be Runaway with Caroline on piano. I've always been very passionate about my music. I also made my fears of the Runaway Remix known the other week. Words however cannot put this into perspective though - I swear I was actually filling up (I know - tart.........) You can only understand what I mean about this when you see it for yourselves.

Didn't do the groupie thing tonight since I got no sleep last night & I'ma walking zombie at the moment; so I don't know if they did any signing.

Anyway, I'm knackered. Only 20 hours to go before it's time to watch again!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Karl Shone)

(8th December 1998)

Just this minute got back from the second gig at Manchester. Another top night all round. The crowd tonight was absolutely bouncing - real good atmosphere in there. The band were obviously enjoying themselves, and getting into the vibes they were receiving back too.

Same set as last night (as you'd expect)!!

Didn't realise until before that I'd forgotten to mention Secret Life last night. There was some severe power in that - came over really well. Same again tonight.

Can't really think what to write at the moment - in a daze again. Runaway really is something else; it has got to be seen. It had the same effect again too....... :-)

Nice bit of comedy in the show also. Someone shouted to Jim when he was about to do his solo, to pose for a photo - to which he obliged; spread across the piano like a lounge bar singer.

I'll get 'round to writing something fully by the weekend for both shows in a bit more detail.Queen Of Hollywood. Even Andrea commented tonight. He's a real welcome addition to the line-up.

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Karl Shone)

(8th December 1998)

Manchester was the first time I saw the Corrs live and it was fantastic easily the best concert I have been to and I have been to a few. The atmosphere was electric and the Corrs really soaked it up. They are so much better live it was unreal. The support act Dakota moon were good as well especially the song they finished on.

I had a great view from the `stalls!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By John Dillon)

(8th December 1998)

Wasn't the Manchester concert wonderful!!

I was there on the Tuesday...it was great when Jim posed on the piano and I loved the song that Sharon and Caroline sung.

I even got a smile from Caroline as i took her picture!! Secret Life was really good too......

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Vicky)

(20th December 1998)

Is anyone else out there totally baffled by the behaviour of some members of the audience at some of the concerts?

I went to the one last night and it was as if the majority of the crowd were asleep until So Young and Toss The Feathers. It was only when they came back out to do these that anyone started dancing or looking like they were enjoying themselves!!

I think the band felt this too as they seemed a little below par - still great but not quite as buzzing as they were at the previous Manchester gig. This could be down to the fact that they have been touring non-stop for ages and are totally knackered???

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Sean Dunning)

(21st December 1998)

I went to the Liverpool gig which was similar to the gig you described and as pointed out by you in front of a slightly reserved audience that only came alive at the end and during the encore. At the time I put it down to the fact that it was only the 3rd gig and most people had never seen them live before. However it seems from other reports that this is unfortunately a common trait at the concerts that the audience hold back unless egged on by the group. It has been picked upon by some of the concert reviews in papers. I think heavy handed gig security doesn't help.

However tonight I went to the Manchester Apollo gig and I have the pleasure to announce that the reports of the patients catatonia are premature and the patient showed advanced signs of life before the end of the main set. Yes it's true after sporadic signs of individuals and couples getting up for parts of earlier songs two steadfast and sturdy souls got up during an instrumental (Carraroe Jig I think) and with much waving of arms and general enthusiasm managed to get most of the downstairs audience off their seats and on their feet. I am somewhat reluctant to stand up first myself because being so tall people behind me don't get to see much. Whoever they are, if they are on the list or anyone knows them, then my hat (if I had one) is off to them. The audience remained standing during Secret Life and began to sit down again when they started I Never Loved You Anyway. But once this started to speed up they all got up again. Most stayed on their feet up till the end of the encore. Well done Manchester audience. It was evident from the reaction of Andrea, Sharon and Jim that they appreciated this as they seemed, to me anyway to put even more into the performance.

Anyway for anyone still with me a brief review.

The gig started with the traditional Violin intro to When He's Not Around and the rest of the set was as previous gigs so I won't bore you with the similarities but highlight some of the differences. After the first couple of tracks Andrea said this was their 4th time in Manchester for this tour and it was their penultimate gig and they were looking forward to going home for Christmas. The piano solo by Jim was again faultless and the crowd joined in at the faster part without Jim prompting, although he said it would be OK to join in at the beginning. He used the same introduction about the song becoming a joke as he can play it fine in rehearsal but when being watched makes mistakes and would we mind turning our backs. This time though on completion of the solo after the applause there was no Les Dawson piano playing. Instead they went straight into the song No Frontiers. It seemed that Sharon's voice was more husky this time (too many cigarettes?) although it was still fabulous and Caroline's voice is still a revelation. We definitely need to pester the record company to release this at least on the next album or as a B-side. So the people who have not heard the song can appreciate it too as they must be very frustrated with us all going on how good it is. Again the version of Runaway was excellent and far more deserving of release than any remixed rubbish in my honest opinion. A better showcase of their talents.

Andrea started to explain the background to Dreams and near the end seemed to lose track of what she was saying and rushed into the title as Caroline started the song. Andrea was rushed by Caroline starting the song a few times. Then when she was half way down the stairs at the back she said that she wondered if we wondered what they were thinking?. And that at that moment, she was thinking that she was going to fall down the stairs!! However she made it successfully.

At the end during the encore Jim and Sharon joined Andrea in the centre of the stage and Jim began bumping Andrea to try and put her off while playing which resulted in a bit of a dirty look at Jim who retreated laughing. However still another very enjoyable concert. Now I have to wait for the next appearance in the Manchester Arena to see them again. Third row centre block should be good. I much prefer the smaller venues!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Malcolm Talbot)

Glasgow Clyde Auditoriom Concert

(10th December 1998)

I loved the first night at Glasgow. It was a brilliant show with surprises like Caroline playing piano on acoustic version of Runaway. But the real surprise was Sharon and Caroline's duet. What was it? Was it a cover version? 'Heaven In Your Eyes'??? Either way it was great!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Colin L.)

(11th December 1998)

Myself and some friends were at the gig on 11th December at 'The Clyde Auditorium' in Glasgow to see The Corrs for the first time.

They started with When He's Not Around and followed with one great song after another from their 2 albums. The highlights of the show were, for me: I Never Loved You Anyway, all the instrumentals which Sharon on the Violin was amazing and my hands are still recovering after clapping all the way through them, and Jim's solo on the piano.

They left for a costume change and came back for a 3 song encore. Andrea was looking absolutely stunning as usual.

The only disappointment was that the show only lasted an hour and twenty five minutes but apart from that it was excellent and we are hoping to see them again when they return to Glasgow on 26th of February at the 10,000 capacity S.E.C.C. I can't wait!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By John McNabney)

Birmingham NEC Concert

(13th December 1998)

Just got back from the gig at the Birmingham NEC, and I reckon about 10000 were very happy people travelling home from it.

Nice to see Jim do a little solo stint, and Andrea seems to have more stage confidence than when I last saw them in March.

Andrea also got a little lost for words when trying to explain why they enjoyed playing Birmingham so much, and Caroline lost patience and started the next song. I dunno, whatever next - on-stage bust-ups Oasis style? :-)

I've heard that they've announced yet another date at the NEC next February - making it 4 appearances at this venue on this tour!?

I'll be very happy to see them live again soon!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Stu Davies)

(13th December 1998)

Wow, what another fantastic gig!!

I had seat 13 on the front row which turned out to be dead centre. What a view.

They did a perfect performance, with one exception of Andrea mumbling on and them starting the song over her talking. Very funny!!

The duet just seems to get better each time I hear it. And Carolines piano playing is brilliant.

I asked Andrea at the end for her tin whistle which she threw to me, but to high. Over my head it went into the hands of the chap behind. She was so sorry I missed it and gestured that she had none left. I gestured that I'll get one tomorrow. (Fingers crossed!!)

Well, for their first solo Arena gig this was awesome. They got a good response from the crowd apart from the fact that no one got up until the end.

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Deborah Kew)

(13th December 1998)

I have just got back from seeing the Corrs at the NEC and I have to say they were fantastic. I can't remember the order in which they played the tracks but I think it was almost identical to Nottingham and Manchester from what I am aware of. There was a real funny bit where before they started playing the third track Andrea was talking about the first time they played at the NEC with Celine Dion and they started playing The Right Time before she had a chance to finish.

Also Jim managed to complete his Piano solo with out any hiccups which he seemed well pleased about, and then he went to play another tune which is really famous and he did it all wrong on purpose. They also did Secret Life which I wasn't aware they played on this tour, perhaps it was instead of Intimacy (I do admit I prefer the latter!!)

Getting into the concert was a nightmare because I had decided that I would like a recording of the actual concert I went to, so I decided before hand to take my mini-disc. I know your not allowed to do this, but I wanted to take the risk anyway because I am such a big Corrs fans I have all the cd's you can buy and I also like them live so I wanted my own personal copy as a momento. Anyway I got caught and had to have my mini-disc confiscated which was embarrassing. The thing is I would never of used it to make any money like some people I totally disagree with that I just wanted a lasting memory of my first Corrs concert!! :-(

Anyway after that incident the concert was great, I just can't wait to go again when I have the chance and hopefully get close to the front row!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Paul Woolrich)

(13th December 1998)

WOW!

I say again!

WOW!

That gig was just superb.

It included some hilarious blunders from Andrea - she was trying to tell a story and kept messing it up so the rest of the band started the next song! She goes "I cant believe you started the song!"

Later on she took the mickey out of herself with lines like "I might trip over my words but I'm not going to trip on the stairs". No Frontiers (the Caroline and Sharon duet) is a very lovely piece - next album please :-)

Secret Life is superb live - more of them rockin tunes please :-)

OK they played:

When He's Not Around

No Good For Me

The Right Time

Forgiven, Not Forgotten

Haste To The Wedding

No Frontiers

Runaway

Hopelessly Addicted

Secret Life

Only When I Sleep

In Never Loved You Anyway

Encore:

So Young

Toss The Feathers

I'm pretty certain I've left a lot out there, but that's most of them!

Oh yeah, Dakota Moon were quite good too.

Methinks I'll go see about getting tickets for the Feb gig.....

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Andrew Aris)

(22nd December 1998)

One word describes the Corrs last night "wow!!!". If anyone had any doubts about the Corrs, they were dispelled last night.

From the first track When He's Not Around through to the encore it was 90 minutes of sheer brilliance. Major high points (no, there were no low points) were Sharon and Caroline's duet - this was just brilliant, never heard it before, but it was great!, Jim's solo piano piece and Dreams. It took a bit of time to get people up and dancing, but danced we did. My favourite Corrs song got an airing The Right Time and there was a new version of Queen of Hollywood with an excellent guitar solo.

One thing that I really love about the Corrs is that they seem to come over all shy, both Andrea and Jim sounded a bit shy. Makes a difference to all the other musicians who seem really confident. I think it is quite endearing actually.

The encore was So Young and by then the Corrs had us in the palm of their hands.

Merchandise was good, with mugs, key rings, lighters and a big selection of t-shirts in various colours. I now have a nice black tour shirt.

One thing I did like was that the NEC had two giant TV screens, which I've never seen before. I was up on one side and could see the band on stage, but it made it much easier seeing the TV!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Alex Barker)

(21st February 1999)

What can I say about the gig - fantastic!!!!

Last night was my third helping and my first visit to the NEC and I was impressed. The venue is great and the atmosphere far better than my 2 previous experiences in Manchester - there must be something in the water because it seemed the whole audience was well up for it (I must say nice one to the guy who started the Mexican wave!).

It was great to be able to dance through most of the gig without being hassled to sit down - good on yer Birmingham!!. As for the gig, they just seem to get better as time goes on. It was good to hear a couple of new tracks from the last gigs and the ''original'' set was dealt with with a high degree of skill.

I thought Caroline was on particularly good form knocking the **** out of those poor drums - great stuff. To the people who caught Andrea's tin whistle and Jim's plektrum - lucky chaps.

(21st February 1999)

The concert at the NEC seemed to be as people have described, hearing Sharon and Caroline singing together was brilliant, Runaway is like you've never heard it before, this version has to be released!!

I did notice like other people that the crowd are a bit slow, Haste To The Wedding and Dreams got some reaction but not until So Young and Toss The Feathers did everyone stand up, some people can be so boring!!

I was at the back sadly :-( but it does look pretty cool from back there.

I also thought that Dakotta Moon were quite good as well.

(21st February 1999)

The gig was amazing and the place rocked - it seemed the audience was much more responsive than at some other shows. After the concert we went round to the stage and we were surprised how few fans were hanging around. Maybe most of the hard core fans had passes! A security guard took pity on us and told us where the band would be leaving from. We quickly went round to the gate and waited for about 45 minutes - there were only about a dozen other fans apart from my family. One of the road crew came and spoke to our kids (Keren was playing the intro to Dreams on her tin whistle at the time). As a result he brought us a play list, a set of road crew instructions and a drum skin from one of Caroline's drums! He said he would get the Corrs to autograph our programme, went inside and came out a few minutes later to say that he didn't need to as they were coming out themselves shortly. You can imagine our excitement - especially my daughters!

Unfortunately though, they never appeared. They just drove straight out in a coach which appeared from inside the building and we were ushered out of the way by security so that the coach could get through. It was very disappointing as, although I never expected we would get to meet them personally, the roadie had really got our hopes up. The kids are now determined to go to more concerts and get to meet them, but the NEC is obviously not the place for that.

Still we had a great evening and enjoyed very much our first experience of the Corrs live.

Andrea announced Hopelessly Addicted as "Hopelessly Afflicted!" and Jim did not do his "Les Dawson" impersonation!!

(24th February 1999)

Just got back from the NEC where I saw the Corrs in concert again(!).

I never thought they could surpass the concert they did in December but they managed to do so. Everything about them was just brilliant- from the opening track When He's Not Around to the final one Haste to the Wedding.

As at Manchester, What Can I Do was done in the remix style but all the rest seem to be pretty untouched by the remixers.

I loved the addition of a big monitor on the stage that they used as a video screen.Dreams, What Can I Do, Queen Of Hollywood all had videos on in the background. The one for Queen Of Hollywood was quite memorable! Quite a lot of Mexican waves beforehand, the crowd seemed to be getting a little impatient!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Alex Barker)

(24th February 1999)

Well what can I say?

The concert was the best I've ever seen. I can't actually remember all of the set list but I'm sure everybody knows it anyway.

I especially enjoyed No Frontiers, Haste To The Wedding, What Can I Do, So Young, Joy Of Life and Toss The Feathers, some of my favourite songs!!

I thought it was quite amusing when women were shouting "Jim we love you" while he was introducing his solo and he replied "I know, I know, I love you to... My hotels only down the road you know." And the way that the crowd wouldn't let Andrea introduce Queen Of Hollywood!

Oh well its all a haze now, At least I have pictures to prove it. I had to be searched at the entrance and they asked tones of questions about my camera but they said I could use it. I took about nine photos. My overall rating is 10000 out of 10!

(24th February 1999)

Well, I'm no longer a CLV (Corrs Live Virgin) after going to see them play live at the Birmingham NEC last night. They were supported by Babel Fish (even though they were handing out Picture House flyers??!!) and Brian Kennedy. I have to say that after hearing how good Babel Fish were, I was not overly impressed. Brian Kennedy was next up, and his sound was very refreshing. He is certainly a very talented man. It takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of 12,000 people with only a spangly shirt and a guitar for company. He performed excellently though. He also created a great rapport with the audience; when a group of girls shouted for him to say "happy birthday to Katie", he ended up singing a fine rendition of the song just for her :-) He certainly made her night! In between each support act the Lloyds advert and the French and Saunders sketch were played. The latter certainly went down very well - it even got a good round of applause! The former was also popular... there certainly wasn't a sense of "how cheesy is THAT?" going around the audience.

The concert itself was nigh-on amazing :-) It struck me that it was very similar to the Royal Albert Hall gig. It certainly started in the same way. One thing that will always make my heart skip a bear is the memory of the lights going out, the green/blue beam scanning the audience and then Jim's keyboard riff followed by Sharon's solo introducing When He's Not Around. Truly amazing!! :-)

One of the highlights of the evening was, of course, No Frontiers. This is an awesome song when seen and heard live on the stage in front of you. Sure, a recording is good, but no match for the live experience. It went down incredibly well. Jim came on to do his solo and did the old "now it's my turn..... please turn to face the back" routine. His solo was very good, and he got the round of applause that he deserved. He laughed when he had finished and admitted that "I did make one or two [mistakes]". He also got a fair share of admiration from the female members of the audience, with shouts of "Go Jim!" and "We Love You, Jim!" were rallied back from him with "I Love You Too, Girls!!". Hehe :-)

We as an audience took a bit of getting into it. I was quite high up in the stands so I could see everyone below sitting down like rows of soldiers. I think it was Haste To The Wedding that got people standing, dancing and clapping. Mind you - can you help but NOT move to this tune? ;-)

As for the sound quality, it was very good. Album-perfect sometimes! Andrea was in fine singing voice and managed to get to all the notes of Runaway, which is the first time I've heard her do it. A Tin-Tin-Out-ish version of What Can I Do was performed, but the only likeness to the Tin-Tin-Out version was Jim's guitar at the beginning - something that made the crowd sit up to attention and get a huge cheer. Speaking of huge cheers...... the one at the end......... *amazing*!

All in all an incredibly memorable evening.

London Wembley Arena Concert

(14th December 1998)

Well, what can we say about tonights gig?

BLOODY BRILLIANT!!

And yes me & Kerena are still on cloud-9!!

It's tooooo long to go into. But I got thrown Andrea's tin whistle & Keren= a had a nice conversation with Sharon, that left her buzzing!!

The gig itself was out of this world. They Rocked Wembley to the 'CORR'. We were lucky enough to meet their parents earlier that day, so I'm sure= there was a few celebrations with Ma and Pa after the gig!!

The set list hasn't changed at all. There was no major mistakes tonight. And Andrea got her speech right!

Roll on tomorrow.

Lets hope Brighton is ready for The Corrs....oh & Us!!!

(14th December 1998)

Corr-Blimey! (All puns intended! ;-) )

I'm still rockin' and realin' after that Monday concert at Wembley, phewee!!

I just literally got back from my first ever live Corrs concert at Wembley Arena. The experience was most electrifying, no doubt heightened by the front row centre seats. I don't want to rave on about it too much 'cause a million people say the same old boring thing all the time, but I just wanted to share a few things. I went to the concert in two minds. I'm a Corrs fan, no doubt, but I didn't really think they would be very good live. How WRONG I was! Andrea's voice did justice to all the songs on their albums. What was really really nice was when Sharon sang... I never realised what an amazing voice she has. Sure she has sung on some of the songs on the albums, but live, boy it's something else... I hate to have favourite's amongst the girls but personally, I think Sharon's voice is the most superior out of the three of them, but having said that, all the girls have great voices anyway. Sharon just hits the mark, spot on, for me:-)

Well, anyway, after the concert was over, I was buzzing!! My friends next to me got two of the tin-whistle's Andrea was using on stage, the girl (who's name unfortunately I forgot in all the excitement and mayhem! DUH!) sitting next to me got both drum sticks and some guy further along to my left got a scrunched up set list.

One thing I noticed, Andrea loves to play with the crowd. Lots of body language! Also Jim, he was superb! I feel Jim gets side-lined and forgotten a lot of the time because of the girls, but this was the first time I got to see Jim actually participate in a big way and I have to say, the guy is great, entertaining, amusing and bloody amazing on the Piano :-)

Well, it's late, it's great, I should go and explode and maybe try and get some sleep. Wembley Arena in Jan and Feb, here I come!!! WOO HOO!!! :) Corrs rule!!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Kaustav Bhattacharya)

(14th December 1998)

My thanks to Deborah for somehow managing to get hold of amazing seats for said gig, which rates as one of the most interesting I've been to.

Was nice to finally meet and say hello, if only for a few fleeting moments. Hi also to Kerena, who I can now attach a face to after a few weeks of on-off emailing way back during the summer... Hope to meet again sometime in Feb., where with a bit of encouragement you might get more out of me than a nerdy "hi!". :-)

I'll leave the detailed reviewing to you (if you haven't done so already!), and pick out a few personal highlights:

1) Jim playing solo on the piano - a hilarious rendition of "The Entertainer", deliberately playing out of key, with matching facial expressions!!!

2) Sharon and Caroline singing No Frontiers (Mary Black song?). One of the most impressive performances I've ever witnessed, which, if their record company had any sense at all, would release as a single, rather than the questionable remixes we've been getting lately. Was I the only one who thought that Sharon sang better than Andrea? *ducks under the table* She really was THAT good.

3) Watching Caroline play the piano for the first time.... is there anything she can't play?

4) Caroline's mesmerising drumming. Unquestionably the most fascinating drumming technique I've ever seen, which looks much more impressive live than on vid..... just wish Andrea wasn't standing in the way!!!

5) The look on Deborah's face after acquiring Andrea's prized tin whistle (and being the subject of numerous envious stares).....

6) Getting hold of one of Carolines drumsticks, then giving it to a complete stranger sitting somewhere between myself and Deborah..... rash? yes..... stupid? probably..... oh well.... she had a nice smile!!

7) <"OH MY GOD / PARALYSED WITH FEAR / WHAT DO I DO?" MODE>
Looking into the back of Andrea's eyes at a distance of four and a half metres as she winked and wiggled her bum..... .... a particularly memorable moment.... ;)

If you weren't there, you should have been!!!

(14th December 1998)

Last night I went to the Corrs concert in Wembley. It was my birthday present which my mum got me whilst I was in hospital. I was really excited beforehand but then my sister (whom I went with) told me that mum had arranged it so I could meet them back stage. They were so nice and polite, we had a five to ten minute conversation and took some pictures with them but unfortunately the film was damaged but at least I have the memories.

The playlist at the concert was as follows...

When He's Not Around

No Good For Me

The Right Time

Carrorae Jig

Forgiven, Not Forgotten

What Can I Do (Remix)

Hopelessly Addicted

Jim was on the piano playing a traditional irish piece which has "become a bit of a laugh" and then played chopsticks with a deliberate mistake. No Frontiers

Runaway

Haste To The Wedding

Secret Life

Only When I Sleep

Queen Of Hollywood

Dreams

I Never Loved You Anyway

So Young

Toss The Feathers

The atmosphere was really excellent and everyone was dancing to beaty stuff like Toss The Feathers and The Right Time. One guy was either drunk or stupid and tried to jump onto the stage. He ran over the banisters and jumped over the final one and then all the security people just jumped on him and dragged him out. It was really funny to watch. But the band just kept on playing!!

The cover group was Dakota Moon. I have never heard of them before, but they were okay!

The Corrs. Wembley Arena

THEY have achieved world domination with an ease that would leave a James Bond villain strangling his cat with envy. How have these three winsome Irish sisters and their fresh-faced brother conquered so many territories across the globe in so little time? How has their latest album, Talk on Corners, become Britain's best-selling disc this year? How have they managed to sell out so many venues on a British tour that stretches far into the New Year? Search me.

I sat through this 90-minute show, the first of several stopping points in London in the course of their tour, hoping for clues, but I have to say that I went away little wiser. The Corrs - or at least the female members of the family - are certainly very beautiful (although they all look somewhat undernourished), but their music is anodyne to the point of dreariness.

They play lifting guitar-pop infused with a dash of Irish jiggery - here a tin whistle, there a bodhran, everywhere a violin.

It's all very tastefully done, but there aren't many decent tunes, the arrangements are rudimentary, and even when they play one of their supposedly rip-roaring, Emerald Isle, instrumental turns, it all sounds terribly stodgy and heavy-handed. Mercifully, they don't engage in any dreadful dead-from-the-waist-up, Michael Flatley-style dance routines.

There were odd occasions in this show when my attention was prevented from wandering: the stirring choruses of Queen of Hollywood, What Can I Do and So Young, and the moment when one rather sad individual tried to storm the stage and was instantly buried under a scrum of security guards.

Otherwise it all drifted along in a not entirely unpleasant haze of harmonies, big, uncomplicated rhythms and floaty, unmemorable melodies. Lead singer Andrea Corr was the only one with anything resembling stage presence; she skipped girlishly and sang dreamily but accurately. The bass player was virtually inaudible (not his fault, I'm sure), while brother Jim played a cringeworthy solo spot on the piano.

And that was that. No doubt The Corrs will continue to get bigger and richer and more famous; before long they'll be playing stadiums rather than arenas. Good luck to them - but it's all still one big, unfathomable mystery to me.

Preview - Wembley Arena, Monday

The Corrs are the musical equivalent of rabies (and I mean that in the nicest possible way). Despite infecting the world with their sweet vocals, poppy tunes, foxy looks and fiddly-dee violin, the UK was, until this year, a Corrs-free zone. Visitors from Corrs strongholds (Australia, Japan, Denmark, Canada and, obviously, Ireland) were placed in quarantine with only their 'Forgiven Not Forgotten' LP to listen to. Six months on, those still sane were found to be cured (though Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was rife) and thus Blighty was delivered from the shadow of another band for Beautiful South/M People fans to add to their 'Mmm, lovely tunes, great to drive to', alphabetically indexed CD collections.

Infiltration was as devious as it was swift. Releasing a Fleetwood Mac cover remixed by top DJ Todd Terry (who, by remixing 'Missing', was responsible for 1996's 'Everything But The Girl' epidemic), the band caught the nation unawares. Soon 'Dreams' was everywhere, and like rabies, infection spread quickly, with resistance near impossible. At first people didn't realise how they'd been bitten (symptoms start to show only after six to eight weeks), but soon record shops were experiencing unprecedented demand for the band's 'Talk On Corners' album.

The battle is now lost. 'Talk On Corners', with 1 million sales, is the UK's biggest selling album of '98 and tonight's gig is part of a 27-date British arena tour. With rabies, initial excitement gives way to anxiety and fear. With The Corrs, such extremes of emotions are probably unlikely.

They're a long way from cutting edge and may flirt with blandness, but live The Corrs have an irresistible allure.

Images of the new Fleetwood Mac are buried at the drop of a bodhran and a refreshing blast of jig-a-jig, while singer Andrea's slinking sexuality is a constant jaw-dropper.

Sharon's duet with Jim, the piano-led No Frontiers, was a highlight. They started '98 as nobodies and ended it with 11,000 fans singing along to So Young. Strangely charming!

(22nd February 1998)

Last night at Wembley was amazing! All the band looked really happy, and Jim was particularly talkative and funny!

The usual set, but everyone was on their feet from Haste To The Wedding onwards - amazing for Wembley.

They did the accoustic version of Runaway just after Jim's piano solo and No Frontiers, with the remix version of What Can I Do. Apart from that everything was normal.

Just a fantastic evening with Caroline sounding particularly good on the drums. She just gets better and better!!

Roll on the next tour, after the next album and a long rest - of course!!!

(22nd February 1998)

Well here's what I thought.....

Wickerdy Wick, Baad Asss. It was kinda the first proper concert I've been to so I've nothing to compare it to but I'm pretty sure it was a good'en.

From it I have learnt that The Corrs are nothing but talent. I couldn't spot a think wrong with the performance, Jim plays nuff instruments, as do all of em. And they can all sing!!

Andrea dancing around the place was kinda funny. Couldn't control her butt from what I saw. I had shite seats, and binoculars, which kinda had a negative effect on the atmosphere so I stopped using them after a while.

Andrea said "See ya" at the end which I guess was kinda cute, not like saying Bye would have been interesting!

Brighton Centre Concert

(15th December 1998)

Wow! what an amazing two days Monday and Tuesday were! Wembley, despite the drizzle outside was a great concert, especially as it was my first one. As everyone already knows, No Frontiers is just astounding, and Secret Life is a welcome addition to the setlist. Highlight of the evening was seeing 11,000 people clapping n dancing to Haste To The Wedding, So Young and Toss The Feathers!! :-)

Brighton... Still recovering :-) My seat was several hundred yards in front of that which I had the previous night, and I was soooo glad to see evryone DID eventually get up off their feet and rush to the front (anyone else notice how Andrea has a way of making you feel like she's looking right at you? ;-)

Can't believe I *just* missed seeing Andrea as she went into the building, but I managed to scramble away her tin whistle from the clutching hands of Steve and Greg (sorry guys...) when we asked a passing roadie if she still wanted it :-D So I'm now pleased to say I'm the proud owner of a long thin black thing with holes in :-) Anybody know what key/make it is!? Pretty darn funky though...

Bournemouth BIC Concert

(17th December 1998)

A group of us went to see them at the BIC (Bournemouth) last night and it was just amazing. The latest set with the more upbeat versions, plus the duet etc. really blew our minds (and ears!)

In our opinion its much better even than the Royal Albert Hall show - so why don't we campaign to get a live CD released - it would be so easy to use a DAT straight of the desk. Why don't they do this and let us all enjoy the real Corrs sound even more?

I just hope they go to the BIC again. Soon!!

Cardiff International Arena Concert

(18th December 1998)

I have just returned from the concert in Cardiff, where we had the amazing coincidence of sitting immediately behind Val, Kerena and her sister! I didn't know this at the time, having never met them before, and I was just telling my family about Deborah and Kerena's "tour of the tour" when she overheared and introduced herself as one of people I was talking about!!! It was encouraging to be together especially as we were one of the first cluster of people to stand. Andrea certainly recognised Val and Kerena and gestured in our direction more than once!

My last Corrs concert was in Germany, where we stood all of the time and the atmosphere was great from the word go. Here in Cardiff it took a while to get going but everyone was standing and really getting into it at the end. There were a lot of shouts of "I love you" to which Andrea replied: "The feeling is mutual", and "We always have time for that". The band definitely were enjoying themselves and complimented us on being a great audience a number of times.

My highlights - Andrea speaking in Welsh, Jim's solo on the piano - no mistakes and the interaction with the audience showed what a great entertainer Jim is. Sharon and Caroline's duet was lovely - they both have excellent voices. Another highlight was during Hopelessly Addicted after the line "Naturally we acted" Andrea danced over to Keith Duffy on the Bass and exchanged a smile. In fact there was a good rapport between the band in general - between Jim and Keith more than once, and a great moment of interaction between Caroline and Jim after the Bodhran solo where Jim comes in strumming the harmonics on his guitar!

It was a great concert!!

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Huw)

(18th December 1998)

The crowd at Cardiff were one of the best, even though security were a right pain and wouldn't allow anyone up front even during the encore. There were three girls in the front row of our block who kept getting in trouble for their 'over-exuberance, but they were certainly going for it at the end doing an Irish jig during Toss the Feathers! :-D

Now as a bit of controversy, I don't think that the band should've done TFI Friday or the Smash Hits. This is an extremely gruelling tour, with a lot of dates crammed together and few breaks. They shouldn't be doing promotion as well - particularly on concert dates. Everyone's being saying they've been looking tired, hardly surprising when you consider they're doing 15 dates in 19 days! On top of this they've done Smash Hits, TFI Friday and Jools Holland (and possibly CD:UK - we'll see if it's a new recording at Xmas).

The promotion wouldn't be too bad if they were actually suppose to be in the towns they were playing a concert at, but TFI Friday starts recording in London at 3.30pm and they were due to sound check at 5.30pm in Cardiff. As with Birmingham they were doing the show in London and then flying in. Guess what they didn't turn up til 6.30pm, I didn't know they could move that fast - well the girls anyway were legging it to the stage door last night (Jim kinda followed up the rear a bit slower with his case on rollers).

They didn't have time to sound check properly, as was evident by Jim doing a warm up before his solo piece so that the engineers could get the levels right, and less obvious were the signals the band were sending to the mixing desk during the show. Saying that you could hear Andrea's tin whistle a lot more then usual - so maybe the lack of sound check had a beneficial side effect!:-D

Onto the show itself, Andrea tried her hand at some Welsh - although from Kerena's reaction not very successful!! I wouldn't have a clue, my first experience of Welsh was seeing all the road signs in both languages! So spill what was she trying to say? Although our seats were right at the side on the floor, we had a brilliant view - and could actually see Caroline when she was behind the drums!! :-D

Sheffield Arena Concert

(25th February 1999)

Well, last night was the final time I will get to see the fantastic four for a while and like any great performers they have left the audience wanting more!

They were magnificent yet again with a slightly re-jigged set list which was good.

It was my first visit to Sheffield and was very impressed with the venue and it's overall location - we even managed to find a decent pub! It was also nice not having to spend an hour getting out of the car park as was the case on Sunday in B'ham. The atmosphere was a little subdued at times - except for the group on Jim's side near the stage who managed to dance the whole way through which was most impressive - and several times there was only a handful of us on Sharon's side dancing. But the rest of the time everyone seemed to be having a really good time - certainly the cheers after Haste To The Wedding and Dreams were the loudest I've experienced.

Oh well, it's back to the Royal Albert Hall vid for a while to keep me going until Nottingham!! :-)

(Report Written With Kind Regards By Sean Dunning)

(25th February 1999)

I don't know which band some of you folks have been talking about but I saw the Corrs in Sheffield last night and they gave a performance still as fresh and enthusiastic as you could expect from any band. And they looked GREAT!

Andrea did her usual and at one point forgot she should be playing the tin whistle and not just dancing about. The No Frontiers duet was just beautiful - even better than when I first heard it in Manchester last year. Anyone in the audience who didn't previously know about Sharon and Caroline's duet must have been utterly knocked out.

And it was a bit slow to start, but yes this was a standing gig.

I bet Glasgow tonight will be REALLY special.

Anyway my tickets were great - I had seats in the fifth row in the main floor of the Arena, maybe 30 feet from Andrea!!!!!! (The far end of the Arena looked as far away as the far end of a football stadium!)

The acoustics are excellent in Sheffield Arena and Jim commented on this at the start of his piano solo, saying the sound was the best they had found in the whole of their UK tour.

London Docklands Arena Concert

(20th February 1999)

At 7.30 on the dot, Babel Fish came on. They didn't seem bad, they are certainly the only Norweigan group I know! They are probably destined for chart success and stuff; their first single seems quite good!! Anyway, the next thing that was put on was THAT advert, which seems quite cheesy really. At about 8.20, they showed the Lottery performance; is that the first ever Lottery performance that any band have played live???

Then on came Brian Kennedy with just a guitar. (This cheered my sister up!) He played well and sang brilliantly, with a couple of tracks off his album he's still recording and at one point remarked "This is a mad venue!!" He even got the crowd to sing along on Van Morrison's brilliant song Crazy Love.

Here's his track list:

1. Better Man

2. Captured

3. Playing With My Heart

4. Time, or it might be called Our Town

5. Put The Message In The Box

Brian had got the crowd livened up, and we had some brilliant mexican waves and feet stamping etc!! Anyway, at about 9:00, the video screens flicked on again, showing us the Corrs arriving at the Docklands - Jim and Sharon were on bikes!!

Then we got to the good bit at about 9.15pm. On came the Corrs to a blistering When He's Not Around. (Yes they had changed from the lottery!)

The Right Time had a video of a revolving clock at the back of the stage which just irritated me really!! Joy Of Life was really good, Sharon can really play that violin!! Forgiven, Not Forgotten with the Erin Shore (Intro) was one of the best tracks of the night; or so I thought anyway. It was then followed with What Can I Do (Remix-Style). The band didn't seem to enjoy this one as much, and I think it was the low point of the evening. Jim's Solo bit followed, with some friendly banter, and much calls of "Jim, we love you", etc!! He played a couple of pieces brilliantly; what are they called? Then on came Sharon and Caroline and sang No Frontiers with Jim at the piano; everyone should have a copy of them singing that brilliant song!! Runaway with Caroline at the piano (although as always, at the back) followed before the band launched into a vigourous Haste To The Wedding with Jim exhorting the crowd to get to their feet. After that, Andrea talked for a bit about their success and how pleased they were - she also said how she felt this was an intimate venue, even though there were 12,500 people there!! She then announced the next song as Queen Of Hollywood, but the guitars went crashing into Only When I Sleep! She apologised after this, putting it down to her dehydration!!! An amazing version of Dreams followed with I Never Loved You Anyway finishing off the proceedings.

This was until they came back on for an encore (changed!) of So Young (with the added words) and then finally Toss The Feathers which was brilliant.

Here's the track list (hopefully right, but i may be wrong!!)

1. When He's Not Around

2. No Good For Me

3. The Right Time

4. Joy Of Life

5. Erin Shore (Intro) + Forgiven not Forgotten

6. What Can I Do

7. Hopelessly Addicted

8. Jim's Solo

9. No Frontiers

10. Runaway

11. Haste To The Wedding

12. Secret Life

13. Only When I Sleep

14. Queen Of Hollywood

15. Dreams

16. I Never Loved You Anyway

17. So Young

18. Toss The Feathers

(I may have got some of this wrong, but it's nearly there!)

Generally, it was absoloutely brilliant, one of the best concerts I've ever been to; the only gripe I have about it was the guitar solos; some of them sounded out of place!!
