CORRS PLAY IRISH MILLENIUM CELEBRATION

Omagh, the site of last year's republican bombing which claimed the lives of 29 people Picture of THE CORRS
and two unborn children, was host to a major concert to launch Northern Ireland's millennium celebrations. Headlined by the Corrs, the event drew a crowd of 30,000 from all over Ireland.

The band, best known for the hits 'What Can I Do?' and 'Runaway', joined a line-up composed entirely of Irish musicians including local Omagh hero Dominic Kirwan. The evening culminated in the lighting of the millennium beacon and Secretary of State for Northen Ireland Mo Mowlam reading a message from Tony Blair, commending the people of Omagh for their courage.
